After the weeks lay off due to bad weather it was visitors Paddock Wood’s turn to try and knock the Wasps from the top of the table. With a few changes to both teams starting line ups the Hornets looked to start the game brightly with Joe as skipper; Callum Harper and Luke Emsley in defence Harry Timmy and Luke Bartlett across the middle and Jack King up front. The game started briskly and inside 2 minutes we where 1 up, a lovely team move and finish by Jack after some neat interplay , paddock wood tried to lift the side but not long after we where 2 up again courtesy of Jack, the team where playing well with everyone holding their positions and working for each other, the second half saw a change of Aiden for Callum but with the exception of a couple of breaks from paddock wood that didn’t really cause Joe any trouble we finished with the game with 2-0.The Wasp started with the with Gareth between the sticks Justin and Samuel at the back, Chris playing the holding role in the midfield with Leon and the fit again James Fiest playing more advanced and Jack T up top, today’s group of matches was about playing players in different positions. From the KO it was Paddock Wood who took the game to us attacking our goal whilst the players got used to the new positions all that being said that lasted a 45 seconds before  we sprang into life and totally dominated the game from then on in.
The boys passed the ball so well it was a real pleasure to see with Paddock Wood looking to play 3 at the back the midfield run riot with Chris Walters pulling all the strings and finding space to dissect the back line with killer balls or spray the ball out wide to the eager miniature duo of Wolvey and Fiest. It was Leon who started the scoring with a neat close range finish before further goals were added by Jack after a neat move involving all the players.
The moment of the match came on a rare Wood attack when the ball was lofted high in the air forcing Gareth to come out of his box towards the advancing striker and win a perfectly timed header( Just like they practiced in the warm ups ) .
The second half saw the with drawl of the Chris and the introduction of Max Holden with Leon switching to the centre of the park, the pattern of the game didn’t change with one way traffic from the whistle, James Fiest opened his account when he netted from a corner before a moment of controversy when Leons shot looked to be poked home as the ball crossed the line by the goal poacher extraordinaire Samuel Rogers, but the goal has been given to Leon by Fiona (statto) Walter who was behind the goal and closer than me. And Leon’s hat rick was denied when the ref blew the whistle as the ball was crossed into the area by Jack only for him to head home 1 seconded too late. 4-0 to the boys but it could have been double figures.

after a break the second round of matches started with the Hornets looking for a quick start again they battled hard and were almost rewarded when the ball was thought to have crossed the line only for the keeper and paddock management to claim it had not, we kept pushing but could not break the 3 man defence down. Unfortunately paddock wood took their chances and after a couple of simply mistakes we where 2 down, after half time we lifted ourselves and found some of the spirit that we know we had, we where back to 2-2  courtesy of a goal by Jack and Timmy, we started to grow in confidence and tried to snatch the winner but after hitting the woodwork  on several occasion it looked certain that a draw was going to be the final result, but fate was going to be cruel again and in the last minute paddock wood snatched a late winner when the broke after we pushed for the 3rd just like the Rusthall game. The whole team where devastated but the work rate and sheer determination they had shown to me and each other proved that they where the real winners on the day and it won’t be long before we start to get the rub of the green.

The Wasp started the game with Chris starting at the back with Max, Justin having a rest on the bench and Samuel playing on the left. once again the game was dominated the Paddock Wood players tried their best but couldn’t match the pace and speed of thought of our lads with wave after wave of attacks the goals started to flow Leon netted a brace Samuel chipped in with one and the Pocket rocket James Fiest helped himself to a deserved hat rick with some lovely quick feet and fine finishing all before the Justin who had come back on in defence launched a range finder thunderbolt only to see it narrowly go wide, not content with this effort 30 seconds later he had another go struck with equally as much venom it was too much for the keeper who somehow got finger tips to it to push it onto the cross bar and bounce over the line. What a goal what a finish 7-0 to the boys in yellow.

Man of the match awards
go to Chris Walter for a fine display in both midfield and defence never misplacing a pass and firm in the tackle. Jack King for an all-round display including some fine finishing and work rate
