Grasshoppers Welcome Tonbridge Invicta September 25, 2008

The Seasons first league fixtures took place last weekend with Tonbridge Invicta visiting the u10’s for the first time, with the opposition being very much an unknown entity both teams started very well in fact they both managed to score with in the first minute of the game much to the delight of the home supporters. The Hornets ended up with the final score 16-0 and the Wasp Finished the game 9-0 the following two games both resulted with Uckfield wins 2-0 and 4-0 respectively. Although the score line reflects our dominance the Invicta players never gave up and played to the best of their ability, the Grasshoppers goals came from Jack King 7 Jack Tebbutt 5 James Fiest 3 Timmy Brisley 3 and Leon Wolvey 2, with notable performances from Harry Harden for the Hornets, Harry wins the M.O.M Award for a selfless performance in both Midfield and Defence much to the delight of his manager Dean, With Sam Rogers taking the M.O.M for the Wasps after putting in a great shift in the heart of the midfield and some great finishing from 6 inches ! The boy is deadly from that distance.

This week Darren has organised a friendly match against Crowborough.  We will be playing at the West Park Playing fields.  Help would be gratefully received to put up goals.  If you can assist, please be there for 9.00am.  Players should arrive by 9.30am in readiness for a 10.00am KO.  Please advise if your player is unavailable, as this will affect the teams.

Just to confirm that training will still be going ahead tomorrow (as of 9.10pm Friday night).  We will be playing a friendly match, so we are looking for a prompt 10am KO.  If any parents can help set up goals, please be there for 9.40am.  Those players not playing in the friendly tomorrow will participate in the friendly match arranged for next week.  Please continue to monitor the website and your e-mails in case of last minute changes to these plans.

With effect from Saturday 6th September, the U10’s will be training at the West Park playing fields.  For map/directions go to ‘find us’.  Training will commence at 10.00am as usual.
