This was most definitely a game of two halves.  In the first half, we created chances, worked hard and just about deserved our half time lead.  In the second half, we were insecure and hesitant and Burgess Hill looked like they could score at will.

This season is turning into a frustrating one.  We have put in some awful performances, turned up late, been hungover, got annoyed with the ref, had some unfortunate injuries/illnesses/absences and had some dreadful luck on the pitch.  We have also played some excellent football, run our socks off, outplayed supposedly better teams, fought for each other and showed great team spirit.  But whether through our own failings, or through sheer bad luck, we currently stand this season with an overall record of P12 W3 D1 L8.  We can certainly say that we didn’t deserve to lose some of the games we have lost, including this one, but lost them we have and we need to break out of the losing habit.

4 Nov 07: Lindfield 4:2 Grasshoppers November 5, 2007

After the spirited performance put in last week in the Cup against a side from a higher league, this game was a let down.  I can’t put it down to any one individual or event, but it seemed that most of the players were just not quite up to their normal personal standards, and that marginal shortfall was the difference between winning comfortably and losing. The early kick off obviously did not assist some of our players in getting over their activities the night before, but if we are going to put up any sort of decent showing in our last season together, we need a change in attitude to the way that some of us prepare.  As a team, we were off the pace throughout this match, with a few notable exceptions.
