21 October 2007: Saint Hill Blues 4:1 Grasshoppers October 25, 2007
Posted by editor in : Uncategorized , trackbackAfter the progress we have made in the last few weeks, this game was a let down.
With few exceptions, everyone seemed to be a yard off the pace and we got exactly what we deserved. Saint Hill had obviously strengthened their squad from the team we played last season and they outplayed us.
Our attitude was poor from the outset- as evidenced by the fact that the first people to turn up for a 11.15 meet arrived just before 11.30. By 11.45 we were still short and we eventually got to the ground about 10 minutes before kick off. This gave us no time to warm up properly and it showed.
It looked as though some of the players were hungover and very few did themselves justice. To be fair, Saint Hill did play some good football and we did occasionally get into the game, but the flashes of what we are capable of never developed into anything more solid and we never looked like winning this game. Harry didn’t start, because those who played the week before deserved to keep their places on the basis of that performance. When he came on in the second half, he confirmed his liking for this pitch by adding to the two goals he scored there last year with a good finish. Jake, having scored twice last week, arrived at the ground too late to start the match, which was a shame given his performance last week.
Not many honourable mentions this week, probably over the course of the match only Craig performed to his normal standard. But overall, this was a game to forget, other than to remind us of what will happen if we don’t have the right approach and attitude.
