Crowborough League Fixtures January 4, 2008
Posted by editor in : Fixtures , add a commentThe Crowborough League have revised our Under 11’s league into five divisions, following our win against Sevenoaks (and our complaint) we’ve been promoted to the second division of the five, we were in the third division of four!
The league fixtures have now been updated and our next competitive game is the CDJFL Cup Quarter final on the 26th Jan, we will then start League fixtures from February 2nd against;
Crowborough Athletic
Hailsham United ‘A’
Langton Green
Tenterden Tigers
Tonbridge Junior ‘B’
I’ve put details in the fixtures section of this site.
As always selection for the matches is based on training commitment.

Team Update December 14, 2007
Posted by editor in : Information , add a commentTeam Update
All, just want to give an update on where we are after 10 (and a half!) games at 11 a side, hopefully you’ve all dried out after saturday!
Initially the teams were split into seven leagues based on expected ability and geographic location. These leagues were not competitive and were setup to get the boys used to 11 a side and determine which teams should be in which league for the competitive leagues in the second half of the season.
For the initial "West Division" league we finished in third place and would only have got second (on goal difference) if we’d won 13-0 against Jarvis Brook ‘B’. As the new league starts on the 15th December the fixture will not now be re-arranged.
Competitive League
For the rest of this season we’re in the ‘C’ League, we did question the league secretary on this as, we’ve had some good performances and even the games we’ve lost we could (and in some cases should) have got something from.
For the rest of the season we’ll have home and away games against the following teams;

A View From ‘The Edge’ - 10th November November 13, 2007
Posted by editor in : Matches , add a commentSaturday saw the team taking on a struggling East Grinstead Meads side on a big sloping pitch in cold and windy conditions.
A slow start contributed to East Grinstead taking an early lead which was the first time they’ve gone in front this season according to one of their supporters. Following some quizzical looks and finger pointing at the back the Grasshoppers upped their game and ensured that the Meads joy was short lived.
CDJFL Cup Report - 6th October October 8, 2007
Posted by editor in : Matches , comments closedFirst round of the CDJFL Cup, away against a team we’ve never played, and our best performance of the season so far.
A good start with Jarvis and Matt in the front line and midfield of Toby, Fergus, Regan and Freddie all putting pressure on Raw Skills paid off when Jarvis took us 1-0 up after 13mins. Just after we hit the post on the 20 minute mark, Raw Skills came straight back to equalise with some good movement into the box behind our defence, it was going to be a competitive cup game.
Toby and Freddie kept the game stretched using all the width of the pitch and with our midfield taking control in the centre Fergus broke free of the Raw skills defence and took us 2-1 up with a great strike on the run after 26 minutes.
2-1 up at half time and the game was there to be won.
Fresh legs were introduced at the start of the second half with Billy on for Matt up front and Brandon for Regan. Good passing and movement from the whole team from the start was rewarded when Jarvis took his second of the match to make it 3-1. Both teams then had opportunities with Raw Skills putting on a lot of pressure but Henry and the back four of Brandon, Harry, Crispy and Tommy were all working well together along with the midfield. Pat came on for Freddie and put in some good work closing people down and with Toby hitting the post we were still creating a lot of chances.
As Raw Skills began to tire (to be fair they played the game with no subs and a number of boys out of position) Josh, having been switched from right back to centre mid field was rightly rewarded with a goal after causing them all sorts of problems . 4-1 up after 53 minutes and the game looked to be over but with 3 minutes to go Raw Skills were awarded a penalty following what looked to be a good 50/50 challenge in the box from Tommy. A great stop by Henry who up to that point had had a pretty quiet day, other than the car sickness!
4-1 up and less than a minute to go the Raw Skills coach shouted "there’s 30 seconds to score" I suspect he ment Raw Skills but Josh made it 5-1 just before the final whistle and was a well deserved coaches "Man of the Match".
